UTERINE FIBROIDS

Uterine fibroids are small nodes filled with tissue and having blood supply . They are shaped like tiny mushrooms , and are not painful or bleeding. They are just there. 

These are found within and outside the uterus , having sizes varying from 1 centimetre to as much as 10 centimetres.

Fibroids are the direct consequence of hormonal imbalance in the female, particularly the Estrogen and Progesterone hormones. Genetic factor also plays a part.

The presence of fibroids in the uterus may cause disturbance in the menstrual cycle, and more important, their presence inside the uterus may cause abortion , if the female has conceived. 

Common treatment for this condition is  : 1)  laparoscopically remove the fibroids ( They may reappear sometime after surgery ), 2) Surgically remove the uterus ,  known as Hysterectomy operation, ( which stops the menstruation process at a young age ) , and 3) providing hormonal supplements to regulate future uterine fibroids.( But , the fibroids which have already appeared before the hormone supplements therapy,  will continue to exist inside the uterus ).
